Frequently asked questions

What is scalp micropigmentation?

Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic pigmentation technique that creates the appearance of closely shaved hair or added density. I can use it for male or female pattern hair loss, thinning areas, receding hairlines, alopecia and scar camouflage. It does not treat the underlying cause of hair loss, but can continue providing visual coverage as hair thins.

Do celebrities choose permanent SMP or tricopigmentation?

There is no single choice that suits everyone. I offer permanent SMP and semi-permanent tricopigmentation, which use different inks and pigment depths. During a free consultation, I assess your hair loss, skin and aims before helping you decide which approach is more suitable for your preferred appearance and future plans.

Can SMP look natural on different hair types?

Yes, I tailor the treatment to your existing hair, skin tone, hair loss pattern and desired coverage. I have treated more than 2,000 clients from a wide range of ethnicities and hair types. My background in barbering also helps me consider how the result should work with your haircut and overall appearance.

How long do celebrity-style SMP results last?

Permanent SMP is designed to last around three to five years before a top-up is needed. Tricopigmentation usually lasts 12 to 24 months because the ink is gradually flushed from the skin. If permanent pigment softens, a top-up is generally a smaller treatment focused on reinforcing selected areas.

Can SMP help if I am still losing hair?

SMP does not prevent further hair loss because it is a cosmetic technique rather than medical treatment. However, the pigment already placed can continue providing visual coverage if your hair becomes thinner. I can discuss your current pattern, likely goals and suitable coverage during a free consultation before you decide.
